Located in North Myrtle Beach, Azalea Sands a 1972 Gene Hamm design is a wonderful warm up golf course after a Winter break. Thirteen of the eighteen holes have well positioned ponds that provide plenty of challenge.
The wide Bermuda grass fairways will entice you to “rip it” off the tee, but be careful as water is definitely in play off several tee boxes.
Pay close attention to distance control on your approach shot, as the Bermuda greens are medium in size and well bunkered.
This eighteen hole North Myrtle Beach golf course layout offers three sets of tees, with the blue’s measuring 6902 yards, the white’s measuring 6287 yards and the ladies tees measuring 5172 yards respectively.
The par 3 fifth hole really comes to mind, it measures 195 yards from the blue tees and depending on which way the wind blows, anywhere from a mid to long iron, hybrid or fairway wood can be used off the tee. There is a pond to carry and if that’s not enough, the green is well guarded by five bunkers.
All in all, Azalea Sands is a more than fair golf course and provides a fun round of golf, this is one North Myrtle Beach golf course that will not have you scratching your head and asking yourself why you decided to play golf today.
