You are likely familiar with Myrtle Beach’s most popular golf package offerings, but we wanted to call attention to a favorite of our staff here at Coastal Golfaway.
The Wachesaw East Stay-and-Play doesn’t attract a lot attention, but it should be on the short list for diligent group leaders.
Why do we love the 4-night, 4-round offer?
Top 100 Courses, LPGA and the Black Knight
The first priority is always the golf course lineup, and the Wachesaw Stay-and-Play delivers. You will be playing Caledonia, True Blue, Wachesaw Plantation East and Blackmoor.
Caledonia and True Blue, both of which are ranked among Golf Magazine’s list of the “Top 100 Courses You Can Play,” provide a pair of bucket list layouts.
Caledonia is as beautiful as it is creative, and if you don’t have a post-round beverage on the clubhouse deck, you are squandering an opportunity to enjoy one of the game’s best 19th holes.
True Blue, which bares no resemblance to its sister course, Caledonia, is at least as fun. The fairways are the area’s widest, waste bunkers provide visual contrast, and every hole is interesting. But consider yourself warned: the closing stretch is among the most challenging Myrtle Beach has to offer.
Wachesaw Plantation East hosted four LPGA tournaments and counts World Golf Hall of Famer Karrie Webb among the players that have won there. The Clyde Johnston design, a shot-makers course, is certainly good enough to test the world’s best players today and is an asset to any golf trip.
Blackmoor, a Gary Player layout, is one of Myrtle Beach’s hidden gems, challenging players to think their way around a course that is full of doglegs and risk-reward decisions. Most importantly, the 8th, which offers golfers a chance to turn dogleg right into a drivable par 4, is one of our favorite holes.
Location, Location, Location
Your group will be staying at Wachesaw Plantation in golf course condos that offer up to three bedrooms. All four courses are within minutes of your condo and Murrells Inlet’s famed Marshwalk is just a Dustin Johnson drive away.
Known as the “Seafood Capital of South Carolina,” Murrells Inlet is home to some of the Grand Strand’s best dining and scenery. One visit to the Marshwalk and Wicked Tuna and you will know why we feel that way.
If it’s happy hour overlooking the marsh (the views are unforgettable) you want, go to Dead Dog Saloon and sit on the deck. The only thing you will regret is having to leave.
If you can’t have fun along the Marshwalk, you aren’t trying hard enough!
Value!!
The Wachesaw Stay-and-Play package ranges in price from $499 to $555 during the peak fall season. There are a lot of ways to measure value, but $130 per day for this combination of golf and accommodations is a great deal, making it one of our favorites.
