Why These Courses Made the List
Arrowhead
Arrowhead consistently ranks among the best-conditioned layouts in the area during spring. The course is overseeded wall-to-wall, resulting in lush, green playing surfaces throughout. Location is another major advantage—it sits right in the heart of Myrtle Beach, convenient to most resorts and the airport.
For comparison, nearby World Tour commands a peak rate of $190. While we love World Tour, there simply isn’t a $60 gap in quality between these two courses. At a similar price point, you’ll find options like Wild Wing and Myrtlewood Palmetto, but Arrowhead edges them out in overall value.
Leopard’s Chase
The Ocean Ridge courses have weathered some challenging years, but Leopard’s Chase has emerged stronger following a recent greens renovation. The original bent grass greens were notoriously problematic; the new Bermuda greens have transformed the playing experience.
Designed by Tim Cate—one of our favorite architects in the region—this layout has always been strong. Now the conditioning finally matches.
Meadowlands
Meadowlands is one of our go-to recommendations for rounding out an itinerary without breaking the bank. It’s ideal for a warm-up round, especially if you haven’t been playing regularly. Conditions are consistently solid, and while the layout won’t leave you breathless, it won’t beat you up either. For groups staying on the North End, the convenient location is an added bonus.
Legends Heathland
Any of the Legends courses could have earned this spot, but Heathland is our personal favorite. With a central location, on-site lodging, and one of the most enjoyable layouts in the area, it’s an easy choice.
Here’s an important distinction: when shopping for tee times, you’ll encounter plenty of “value adds” like free lunch or gift cards that are actually upcharges in disguise. At Legends, the included breakfast, lunch, and two beers are genuinely complimentary—no hidden fees. Compare a round here at $155 to World Tour or King’s North at $190, and the $35 difference doesn’t hold up, especially once you factor in the meals.
Caledonia
A $255 green fee on a “value” list? Hear us out.
Caledonia isn’t competing with typical Myrtle Beach courses—it’s a Top 100 Public Course in America. For context, here’s what comparable experiences cost for the same April 17 weekend:
- Pine Needles: $315
- Tobacco Road: $305
- Oak Point at Kiawah: $260
- Heron Point at Sea Pines: $365
At $255, Caledonia delivers one of the finest golf experiences on the East Coast at a relative discount. And if you can travel during off-peak periods, you’ll find even better deals.
