Championship Golf
The Byrd Course: Willard Byrd’s creative layout at Sea Trail is built around seven man-made lakes ranging from 14 – 20 acres. Each hole is memorable for its beauty and exacting play. Waste areas, along with mounding and pot bunkers require strategic thinking around this golf course. Your round ends at the picturesque 18th green that sits between two sparkling freshwater ponds at the Jones/Byrd Clubhouse.
The Byrd course has enjoyed an array of distinguished awards; Rated 4 STARS by Golf Digest- 2004, Golfweek Best Resort Course of Distinction- 2004/2005, Golf Digest 50 Best Courses in Myrtle Beach-2005 and Golf Digest Top 100 Courses in North Carolina- 2006.
The Jones Course: Golf course architect Rees Jones has been accredited with four of the last five renovations to U.S. Open courses. The Rees Jones Course at Sea Trail, a 2006 U.S. Open Qualifier course, recently underwent its own renovations, making it even more of a perennial favorite of both visitors and locals. By adding native grasses and wildflower plantings, these recent designer-approved renovations brought a more naturalized look to this Myrtle Beach area stalwart.
The Jones course features generous mounded fairways that are bordered by scenic lakes, old oaks and towering pine trees, while the straight forward Rees Jones look is always easy on the eye. Among its many notable accolades are U.S.open Qualifier Course- 2006, Rated 4 STARS by Golf Digest- 2004, Golfweek Best Resort Course of Distinction- 2004/2005, Golfweek Best Course You Can Play- 2005, Golf Digest 50 Best Courses in Myrtle Beach- 2005 and Golf Digest Top 100 Courses in North Carolina- 2006.
The Maples Course: The Maples Course at Sea Trail is a traditional golf course set amongst ancient twisted oaks and tall Carolina pines. This fabulous par 72 design features five holes that meander along the tranquil Calabash Creek. Although not considered long by today’s standards, the Maples layout demands accuracy and critical thinking if you want to post a good score.
The Maples course always features beautifully maintained fairways, subtle, undulating greens and recently refurbished bunkers; the Maples course is also peppered with numerous waste bunkers, one of which extends the entire length of the fifteenth fairway.
