Do you dream of the day when your dad & you can escape for a weekend golf trip? Well, that dream just became a reality for our top salesman, Rob Moye, and his dad. The father-son duo are back feeling relaxed and refreshed after participating in the annual Father & Son golf tournament in Myrtle Beach, SC. This is a unique event where fathers and sons unite in “The Seaside Golf Capital of the World” for the Annual Golf Dimensions National Father & Son Team Classic. This three-day family event has become the largest father son golf event in the world.
Last year’s 54-hole tournament drew over 1200 players from 44 states and 8 foreign countries – 36 flights in all. The
three courses in the Moye rotation were Myrtle Beach National’s Southcreek, Long Bay Club and The Founders Club at Pawleys Island. In an effort to make the tourney as fresh and fun as possible, the format for each day is different. The first day had everyone playing “best ball”, the second day was the “alternate shot” (everyone’s favorite, no doubt!) while the final day was “captain’s choice.” Moye and his dad stayed at the very conveniently located Barefoot Resort Golf Villas, which are close to fabulous restaurants, exciting entertainment and of course, all the golf courses you could wish to play.
Along with the golf, there were several fun events for contestants. On Thurs, July 19th there was a Shoe Fitting at the Callaway Performance Center and at Barefoot Resort & Golf Driving Range was the “Family Affair Cookout” hosted by Logan’s which included The Red Bull Skills Challenge. Equally exciting was Demo Alley-Presented by Callaway Golf, The First Tee Experience, Making Birdies Golf Clinic Expo and the Palace Resorts Closest to the Pin & Chipping Contest. On Fri, July 20th was golf only. Sat, July 21st featured golf, the Awards Ceremony and the player’s Cookout at the Barefoot Resort & Golf Driving Range.
Moye said that the event was very professionally run and that he would not hesitate to sign up next year, he also went on to say that everyone had a great time.
