A Real Look at Myrtle Beach Golf Pricing
Navigating Myrtle Beach Golf Packages
If you’ve ever tried to compare golf packages in Myrtle Beach, you know it can feel overwhelming. Between dynamic pricing, bundled promotions, and gift card offers, it’s hard to know what you’re actually paying—and whether you’re getting a good deal.
That’s where we come in. At Coastal Golfaway, we work with course ownership groups like Founders Group to secure competitive rates for our customers. The Founders Group operates 22 courses in the Myrtle Beach area, and we have access to several promotions across their portfolio. But which promo makes the most sense for your trip? Let’s break it down.
Understanding the Price Chart
To give you a clear picture, I pulled our single-round rates for a Saturday tee time on May 2nd—AM and PM rates for every Founders Group course. I’m using this date intentionally: it’s peak season pricing on the most expensive day of the year. No hidden fees, no bait-and-switch with off-peak numbers.
Why show the highest rates? Because I hate booking something only to find out the advertised price was for a random Tuesday in November. What you see below reflects real-world pricing when most golf groups actually travel.
One important note: these rates were captured in early January. If you booked with us earlier in the season, you likely locked in lower prices. Dynamic pricing means rates climb as tee times fill up.
Common Questions About Our Pricing
Q: Is it cheaper to book through Coastal Golfaway or call the course directly?
A: In most cases, yes—we’re cheaper than booking direct. Check the chart below: you’ll see our rates match or beat the course’s own pricing on nearly every course. And here’s a bonus: if you have 20 or more golfers in your group, you play completely free.
Q: Do your rates include lunch, range balls, and beer?
A: For Founders Group courses (not Legends), adding the lunch/range/beer package costs about $5 more per round than the base rate shown. That $5 gets you a lunch voucher, a bucket of range balls, and two beers—easily a $25-30 value. It’s one of the best add-ons we offer.
Q: What about the $100 gift card promotion I’ve heard about?
A: You’re thinking of the Primetimes Rewards promo. Here’s how it works: you must book at least 4 rounds, and it adds roughly $16 per round to cover the gift card cost. So you’re paying $64 to receive a $100 gift card. Sounds decent on paper, but keep reading—there’s a better option.
Q: Why isn’t the Primetimes Rewards gift card worth it?
A: Because of our 10% multi-round discount. When you book 3 or more rounds through Coastal Golfaway, you automatically save 10% on each round. Let’s run the numbers with a real example.
Promo Comparison: The Math
Let’s say you want to play four premium courses:
- King’s North — $210
- Grande Dunes — $292
- Myrtlewood Palmetto — $130
- Pine Lakes — $200
Here’s what you’d pay under each scenario:
Booking direct with each course: $832
Adding lunch/range/beer package (+$5/round): $854
Primetimes Rewards (with $100 gift card): $896
Coastal Golfaway 10% multi-round discount: $749
The bottom line? With the gift card promo, you’re effectively paying $147 more than our 10% discount rate to get a $100 gift card. That’s not a deal—that’s a $47 loss.
Tips for Getting the Best Rates
Founders Group has become one of the most sophisticated golf operators in the country when it comes to dynamic pricing. While the chart shows peak Saturday rates, there are ways to save:
Avoid Thursday–Saturday if possible. These are the highest-demand days, and pricing reflects it.
Consider Sunday–Wednesday rounds. You’ll often see significant drops. For example, Grande Dunes drops from $292 on Saturday 5/2 to $199 on Monday 5/5—nearly $100 in savings.
Book early. Rates climb as tee sheets fill. The earlier you lock in, the better your price.
Afternoon tee times save money. PM rates run 15-30% lower than morning times at most courses.
