Here at Coastal Golfaway, golf and eating rank as some of our favorite hobbies. While many say eating is a necessity and not a hobby, we completely disagree. We are huge admirers of the culinary arts. This past weekend we were treated to a fantastic meal at Sam Snead’s Grille located off of Highway 501, almost directly across from the Legends Golf Resort.
It all begins when you enter the front door, it is half museum half 19th hole which adds to the luster and allure of the
place. In the lobby, you have mementos from the Country Club of Brookline and old Wilson Staff Clubs. My favorite part about the place was the murals of famous holes from across the globe. There were even pictures form all of Sam Snead’s major victories.
Now to the food, the Sam Sneads Lunch and Dinner Menu has a variety of options for all types of eaters. The attention to detail was evident from the get go, we ordered our usual round of beers. What we loved about this first round was how cold the beers were. Nothing starts a meal off after a day in the southern heat than a nice cold beer.
Chase our wing connoisseur had to try an order of the wings, a few things he always looks for is are the wings crispy, and how good is the sauce. He left very happy with how the wings came out, very crispy and the sauce was hot, but not so hot you couldn’t enjoy the rest of your meal.
For the main course everyone decided to get a sandwich of some sort. Jerry ordered the “Country Club” which was a club sandwich, while Chase and Carl got the French Dips. Needless to say everyone left Sam Sneads Grille very satisfied.
The portions were very generous and the meats in the sandwich were delectable. One thing I always look for is how crispy the fries are. Fries are a simple measure on how attentive the cooks are and they really topped the meal off. Each french fry was nice and golden crispy and everyone’s plates were wiped clean.
