If your trip is built around Pebble Beach Golf Links, there’s really only one place to stay. The Lodge sits right behind the 18th green, the same spot where Nicklaus, Watson, and Woods all closed out their biggest moments at Pebble Beach, and waking up there is part of the experience itself.
The Property
The Lodge has anchored Pebble Beach Resorts since 1919, and it remains the cornerstone of the entire property. It offers 161 traditionally styled guest rooms and suites, most with wood-burning fireplaces and views running from the resort’s gardens to the fairways to, in the best rooms, Stillwater Cove and the 18th hole itself. For groups wanting more room, the Fairway One cottages along the 1st hole, the Palmer and Eastwood, each come with a 1,000-square-foot living room and a private terrace with a fire pit.
The Lodge completed a major renovation of its public spaces in late 2025, refreshing the entrance with new pavers framed by 140-year-old olive trees, expanding the Terrace Lounge, and reworking its two flagship restaurants. The Tap Room kept its signature deep green leather booths but added a new private dining room called the Champions Room, lined with USGA memorabilia and home to the actual wedge Tom Watson used to chip in on the 17th hole in the 1982 U.S. Open. Stillwater Bar & Grill got a full redesign as well, with a wraparound dining room, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a central bar set against views of the cove.
The Golf Access
This is the home base for Pebble Beach Golf Links. Staying at the Lodge for at least two nights, sometimes three depending on the season, is the standard path to locking in an advance tee time, and resort guests can book up to 18 months out. From the Lodge you also have easy access to Spyglass Hill and Del Monte, with a complimentary shuttle running to The Inn at Spanish Bay on the other side of the resort if your trip includes a round there.
What to Know Going In
The Lodge has six restaurants on property, from the casual Gallery Cafe to the wood-fired Bench to the steakhouse classics at the Tap Room, plus access to the Beach & Tennis Club and its heated pool, and the Forbes Five-Star Spa at Pebble Beach nearby. Rooms aren’t cheap, this is the priciest of the three Pebble Beach Resorts properties, but the combination of the 18th-hole location, the history in every hallway, and the post-renovation upgrades makes the price easier to justify for golfers who want the full Pebble Beach tradition rather than just a nearby place to sleep.
