If you’re building a trip around TPC Sawgrass, the lodging decision is an easy one. The Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa sits directly next door to the Stadium Course — we’re talking a short walk or golf cart ride from your room to the first tee. It’s the obvious home base for a Ponte Vedra Beach golf trip, and the resort has enough going on beyond the golf that non-golfers in the group won’t be looking for something to do.
The Property
The Sawgrass Marriott sits on 65 Audubon-rated acres in Ponte Vedra Beach, about 30 miles south of Jacksonville and roughly an hour north of St. Augustine. The resort has 514 rooms across standard rooms, suites (which make up more than 25% of the inventory), a Signature Wing with VIP-level access, and private villas for groups who want more space and a home-like setup. Views run from the resort grounds and natural waterways to, in the better rooms, the Stadium Course itself.
The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed — premium bedding, balconies or patios in many units, mini-bar, refrigerator, and the basics you’d expect from a full-service Marriott property. The Signature Wing is worth considering for golf groups who want a little extra: the dedicated “Living Room” lounge access and upgraded amenities make a long golf weekend feel more like an experience than a hotel stay. Villas are the right call for larger groups — private, pet-friendly, and equipped with the space to actually decompress after 36 holes.
The Golf Access
This is the main reason golfers stay here, and it delivers. The resort has a formal partnership with TPC Sawgrass, and guests get preferred tee time access to both the Stadium Course and Dye’s Valley. Tee time reservations go through the resort directly — one contact, one transaction, no coordination headaches. The pro shop and performance center are also available to guests, including lessons with TPC instructors if anyone in the group wants to work on their game before stepping onto one of the most famous courses in the world.
The proximity is the real advantage. When your round ends and you want to be sitting down with a cold drink inside of 15 minutes, that’s possible here.
Beyond Golf
Four pools on property, including the adults-only spa pool. A 20,000-square-foot spa — the Sawgrass Spa — with a full treatment menu covering massages, facials, body wraps, and more. A 24-hour fitness center with Peloton bikes. Bike rentals for riding the property’s trails. A kids’ club called Mighty Oaks Children’s Center open daily, which makes this work for groups where someone is bringing the family.
The beach situation is handled via the Cabana Beach Club — the resort’s private oceanfront club about seven minutes away by complimentary shuttle. It’s on 26 miles of Atlantic coastline and has ocean views, watersports, a heated pool, fire pits, and dining. It’s not on-site, but the shuttle runs consistently and it beats the alternative of not having beach access at all.
Dining runs across seven restaurants and lounges. Alice and Pete’s Pub — named after the Dyes, a nice touch — is the casual option with craft beers and pub food. The 619 Ocean View Restaurant covers the elevated end of the spectrum with fresh seafood and steak. The Great Room Lobby Lounge handles the in-between moments.
What to Know Going In
The resort is large, which means some rooms are a longer walk from the main amenities than others. Suites and the Signature Wing tend to offer the tightest package of location and access within the property. The resort fee covers pool access, shuttle service, and a few other perks — factor that into your budgeting when comparing rates.
For a golf group, the combination of next-door TPC access, solid on-property amenities, and Marriott Bonvoy points stacking makes this a straightforward recommendation. It’s not the cheapest option in the Ponte Vedra Beach market, but it’s the right one for a trip built around the Stadium Course.
