The Ultimate Guide to Stay and Play Packages in Myrtle Beach

Golf Resort Guide

One of the best things about Myrtle Beach is the flexibility to mix and match courses. That said, many guests ask us about Stay and Play options—packages that combine lodging with on-site golf and additional courses within a short drive.

Below, we break down peak season pricing, booking tips, and the pros and cons of each property.

Legends Golf Resort

3 Nights / 4 Rounds (April): $729 Includes breakfast, lunch, and two beers or soft drinks with each round.

Legends Golf Resort

Lodging Options:

  • 2-Bedroom / 2-Bath Golf Villa (4 double beds)
  • 3-Bedroom / 2-Bath Golf Villa (4 double beds, 2 twin beds)
  • Daily housekeeping included

Courses:

Where to Eat: The Ailsa Pub is a classic sports bar with solid food, and most units are within walking distance.

Nightlife: Plenty of options for all ages nearby. The central location is part of the appeal—you’re close to everything.

Our Take: This is one of the best Stay and Play deals in the country. Nearly everything is covered except dinner, and even then, the Ailsa Pub is right on-site. The three courses offer nice variety thanks to different designers, and all are well-maintained. Heritage Club is one of my favorite courses on the entire Grand Strand—absolutely worth the drive. Schedule it as an afternoon round or early in your trip so you can take your time and enjoy it.

The only drawback is pace of play. Because the value is so strong, the resort fills up, and rounds can occasionally run slow.

Fun fact: This is where my annual golf trip started. We had 8 guys over Labor Day weekend in 2016—now we’re up to 40 players.

Barefoot Golf Resort

3 Nights / 4 Rounds (April): $935 Includes a starter set of range balls. Breakfast available for approximately $18 per day.

Lodging Options:

  • 2-Bedroom / 2-Bath Golf Villa (4 twin beds)
  • 3-Bedroom / 2-Bath Golf Villa (bedding varies)
  • 2-Bedroom / 2-Bath Yacht Club (4 queens or 1 king and 2 queens)
  • 3-Bedroom / 3-Bath Yacht Club (typically 1 king and 4 queens)
  • 4-Bedroom / 4-Bath Yacht Club (typically 1 king and 5 queens)

Note: Bedding configurations vary as units are individually owned. North Beach Plantation, located across the street, offers houses, oceanfront condos, and villas as well.

Courses:

Where to Eat: Umberto’s in Barefoot Landing is perfect for golf groups. The Italian Dinner ($50 per person) is generous, and the fixed price makes splitting the bill easy. When I’m leading a trip, I usually build this into the budget along with a few bottles of wine.

Hamburger Joe’s has the best wings in the area. This has been a McGraw family staple for years. Great prices, great food—just remember it’s cash only.

Nightlife: Barefoot Landing offers plenty of restaurants and spots to hang out. You’re also about 10 minutes from Ocean Drive in North Myrtle Beach, where you’ll find places like Molly Darcy’s and Ducks.

Our Take: I’ll admit some bias here—my parents had a condo at Barefoot, so I grew up visiting this place. The resort’s GM, Dave Genevro, has been running the operation since it opened, and the level of professionalism shows. Pricing has increased in recent years, but during spring, these courses are in fantastic shape and justify the cost.

There’s something special about grabbing a drink at the bar or the outdoor grill when the resort is humming in spring. I love hearing where everyone’s traveling from and the post-round conversations.

My favorite is the Fazio—it’s a bit more open, and the par 3s are outstanding. The Dye Club is a special experience, though it can test your patience.

Sea Trail Golf Resort

3 Nights / 4 Rounds (April): $629 Includes breakfast.

Lodging Options:

Standard Units:

  • 2-Bedroom / 2-Bath Golf Villa (4 doubles or 1 king and 2 doubles)
  • 3-Bedroom / 2-Bath Golf Villa (4–6 beds)
  • 4-Bedroom / 3- or 4-Bath Golf Villa (6–8 beds)

Note: Bedding varies as units are individually owned.

Newer Units (upcharge applies):

  • 3-Bedroom / 2-Bath Sawmill Units (6 queen beds)

Courses:

Where to Eat: Clark’s Chophouse in Little River is a local staple—excellent food right on the water.

The Parson’s Table is a bit more upscale, but the meals are consistently excellent. Reservations required. This is one of my dad’s favorite spots.

Sunset Prime is the resort’s new steakhouse, located in the renovated clubhouse. No expense was spared—it’s a first-class facility.

Nightlife: This is a weak point for Sea Trail. Sunset Beach doesn’t have as much going on as other areas. Sharkey’s, a dockside bar in Ocean Isle, is worth checking out.

Our Take: For years, Sea Trail was a neglected property. That’s no longer the case. The Maples Course was renovated in 2025, the Byrd in 2024, and the Jones is expected to follow in 2026. Pricing remains competitive, and the overall experience has improved dramatically. Rivers Edge is one of my favorite facilities in the area, and the joint promotions between these courses create real value.

Another advantage: over 20 courses are within a 10-minute drive, making Sea Trail an excellent base for variety. The resort is clearly pricing to win back its reputation—and it’s working.

True Blue and Caledonia

3 Nights / 3 Rounds (April): $860

Lodging Options:

  • 2-Bedroom / 2-Bath Golf Villa (4 twins or 1 king and 2 twins)
  • 3-Bedroom / 2-Bath Golf Villa (4–6 beds)

Courses:

  • True Blue
  • Caledonia
  • Heritage Club (round includes breakfast, lunch, and two beers or soft drinks)

Where to Eat: Frank’s is a longtime favorite—excellent seafood and steaks. We’ve been eating here for 20 years.

Wicked Tuna on the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk offers great food in a more casual, lively setting.

Nightlife: The PIT (Pawleys Island Tavern) is one of my favorite spots on the Grand Strand. It’s divey with good music and food—our group always has a great time, and it’s close to the True Blue condos.

The MarshWalk at Murrells Inlet is hard to beat when the weather cooperates. Multiple bars and restaurants line the water with excellent views and atmosphere.

Our Take: This is one of the premier golf destinations in the region. The combination of elite golf and a vibrant social scene makes for an exceptional trip.

Caledonia and True Blue are stunning, meticulously maintained courses that fully deserve their Top 100 rankings. Built on former rice and indigo plantations, they have a character that sets them apart from most Grand Strand layouts. These are public courses with a private feel—no neighborhoods or residential developments crowding the fairways.

The only downside is inconsistent lodging quality. The golf far outpaces the accommodations. It’s not that all units are subpar—there’s just a wide range.

Brunswick Villas and Golf Club

3 Nights / 3 Rounds (April): $469

Lodging Options:

  • 2-Bedroom / 2-Bath Golf Villa (4 double beds)

Courses:

Where to Eat: Clark’s Chophouse in Little River—excellent food on the water.

The Parson’s Table—upscale dining with consistently strong meals. Reservations required.

Nightlife: Limited options in the immediate area. Sharkey’s in Ocean Isle is a fun dockside bar worth the short drive.

Our Take: This is a fantastic value destination. The units are comfortable, the golf is enjoyable, and the price is right. All three courses are within five minutes of the resort—classic, no-frills golf trip territory. Plus, with 20+ courses within a 20-minute drive, you can easily add variety to your itinerary.
