Coastal Golfaway’s “Four for Three” experience at Sea Trail Resort showcases unforgettable golf from some of the game’s most prominent names in course design.
Very little mystery surrounds the Rees Jones Golf Course at Sea Trail, with spacious, tree-lined fairways joined by an assortment of scenic lakes that bring water into play on as many as 11 holes. Sand play will also present a distinct challenge, as an assortment of expansive and “pot”-style bunkers add an element of spice to a challenging design that boasts a course rating of 73.2 and slope rating of 138 from the back tees.
The Willard Byrd Golf Course calls for a more precise approach to your round. A closer tree line makes the course play narrower, with daunting greenside bunkering demanding accuracy from tee to green throughout this layout. Once you’re on the putting surface, undulating greens ensure you’ll need to bring your “A” game with the flat stick. You can exhale at the striking sight of your finishing hole, the picturesque 18th framed by two expansive ponds and the Jones-Byrd clubhouse.
Sea Trail’s Dan Maples Golf Course also demands accuracy, and is highlighted by five holes that wind along the beautiful Calabash Creek. An eclectic mix of twisted oaks and towering Carolina pines surround a meticulously landscaped design that, like its sister Byrd course, also features undulating putting surfaces. Several waste bunkers throughout the layout provide additional challenge, extending the entire length of the fairway on one hole.
